Dear reader,
I decided to sort my son’s whole collection of LEGO in to it’s original sets as an autumn project (my hubby said I’m completely out of my mind… He’s probably right… ).
As I was standing there looking at that huge heap of chaos on the floor, it reminded me of my work!
This is such a great analogy of what I help my clients do! They come because they are totally overwhelmed by the state of their LEGO boxes (usually located in their heads or hearts), and I help them pour the entire thing out and then gently, step by step, guide them in sorting all the different pieces, shapes and colours; toss out what doesn’t belong to them (like when you find the odd pencil or toy among the LEGO); and then slowly constructing the sets back together and achieving the feeling of wholeness again
I often use the LEGO analogy, as in life being a bit like those massive LEGO sets with lots and lots of bags, and a huge freaking manual (think Star Wars or LEGO Technic). You can’t expect to succeed in building the set unless you open bag one, first, then bag two, then bag three and so on. You will just end up with a glorious mess (I know, I’ve tried)…
We are constantly building and constructing our lives, and we can’t rush through or expecting of ourselves to “have reached bag 20 level already” before building the 19 bags before first.
So instead of being harsh on yourself, think “LEGO”, and let yourself trust that you are being given the exact right bag at the time which includes all the “perfect”pieces that you need at the exact right time, although those pieces sometimes looks very messy, sad, hopeless, or overwhelming
It’s all part of the bigger LEGO set journey
Warm regards,
Karin
